spent all nite chasin’ snakes
outa ireland
snake pets
nouveau riche let loose
when their soddies were repossessed
poor ireland.

dog woke up next morn
fickin blackouts, he howled
need to go back to cursed ZZ
dog version of AA.

din’t even know
what he did the nite b’fore.

Mitchell Krochmalnik Grabois was born in the Bronx and now splits his time between Denver and a one-hundred-and-twenty-year-old, one room schoolhouse in Riverton Township, Michigan. His short fiction, poetry and columns have appeared in hundreds of literary magazines in the U.S. and internationally.
